Medicare Supplement Plans are plans sold by private insurance companies that help fill the gaps in Original Medicare coverage. Also called Medigap, these plans help cover costs not covered by Original Medicare like coinsurance, deductibles, and copayments.
What Are The Different Medicare Supplement Plans?
Depending on where you live, you may have up to 10 different Medicare Supplement plans to choose from.
All Medigap plans provide coverage for the same basic benefits: Part A coinsurance/hospital costs, Part B coinsurance/hospital costs, the first three pints of blood used in a procedure, and your Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayment.
Here are the different Medigap plans available and their coverage:
- Medigap A covers full basic benefits only.
