Medicare costs for the new year are usually announced in the late fall and goes into effect starting January 1. Here’s what to expect for the costs of Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D in 2023.

Cost of Medicare Part A in 2023

Medicare Part A is usually free for most people, but if you must purchase Medicare Part A, the cost is $506/month. The people who haven’t worked up to 40 quarters but more than 30 quarters will likely get a prorated premium of $278/month. Should you have a hospital stay, your Medicare Part A deductible will be $1,600, which is an increase of $44 from the deductible in 2022.

Cost of Medicare Part B in 2023

The standard premium of Medicare Part B for 2023 is $164.90. However, those that earn higher income will pay more. In addition, the beneficiary will be required to pay an annual Medicare Part B deductible of $226. And once your deductible is met, you will be subjected to pay 20 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for coinsurance.

Cost of Medicare Part C in 2023

Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) plans are offered by private health insurance companies, so the cost will vary. CMS estimates that the average monthly premium for Medicare Part C for 2021 is $28, which is a decrease of $5.00 from $33.00 in 2022. You can also decide to check with your Medicare Advantage provider for the new premium rate for 2023.

Cost of Medicare Part D in 2023

The average premium for Medicare Part D is about $49/month in 2023. Those with high drug costs might experience a coverage gap. The initial coverage limit for 2023 is $4,660. This is up from $4,020 in 2020. Once you have spent $7,400 out-of-pocket, this becomes known as the catastrophic coverage amount.

The maximum deductible for Part D in 2023 is $505.
