What Are The Different Medicare Supplement Plans?

Depending on where you live, you may have up to 10 different Medicare Supplement plans to choose from.

All Medigap plans provide coverage for the same basic benefits: Part A coinsurance/hospital costs, Part B coinsurance/hospital costs, the first three pints of blood used in a procedure, and your Part A hospice care coinsurance or copayment.

Here are the different Medigap plans available and their coverage:

*Plans K and L cover full Part A coinsurance and hospital costs up to an additional 365 days after Medicare benefits are used up, then 50% (K) or 75% (L) of the remaining basic benefits. 2026 out-of-pocket limits: Plan K $8,000; Plan L $4,000. After you meet your out-of-pocket yearly limit and your yearly Part B deductible, Medigap Plans K and L pay 100% of covered services for the rest of the calendar year.

**You cannot buy Plans C and F if you were new to Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.

***Plan N pays 100% of the Part B coinsurance, except a copayment of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for emergency room visits that don't result in an inpatient admission.
